The biggest tournament on the 2023 Ontario Poker Championships, the $265 buy-in $50,000 guaranteed PKO Main Event, has crowned its champion, and “zackress77” is that player. Victory came with a bumper payout of a cool $11,650 after zackress77 outlasted 206 of their fellow Ontarians to emerge a worthy winner.

The 207-strong field resulted in a $51,750 prize pool, blasting the $50,000 guarantee out of the water. Only 32 of those starters made it through to Day 2, each with a min-cash in tow in addition to any bounties they collected along the way.

“Sucra71” was the nine-handed final table’s first casualty. They banked $1,025 for their efforts. Sucra71 also reached the final table of the $33 buy-in edition of the PKO Main Event, capping off an incredible day for the Ontario-based grinder.

Eighth place went to “Carta Roja,” a finish worth $1,422, with “weiser1” crashing by the wayside in seventh, and turning their $265 into a $1,291 score.

The final six became five with the untimely demise of “Fubu49.” Sixth place came with a total haul worth a combined $1,395. “Iron1557” helped themselves to a much larger prize of $2,535 when they fell in fifth. Iron1557 won $1,378 from the main prize pool plus $1,148 worth of bounties, going some way to show how profitable PKO tournaments can be. Only two other finalists banked more bounties, the champion being one of them.

Fourth place and $3,764 went to “VisTesReves” before the Ontario Poker Championships Main Event progressed to heads-up when “Snoozing” was caught napping. Their third-place exit came with $2,937.

Heads-up pitted zackress77 against “PleaseAndThankU.” Both players guaranteed themselves at least $4,186 but the final bounty payment was worth far more than that. Eventually, zackress77 came out on top and boosted their prize with $7,459 from the bounty prize pool for a combined haul weighing in at $11,650, resigning the runner-up to a $5,447 payday.

Jeanson204 Walks Away With the Low Main Event Title

Some 341 players bought into the low edition of the Ontario Poker Championships PKO Main Event, and created a guarantee-busting $10,230 prize pool , as a result. Fifty-one of those starters made it through to Day 2, and it was “Jeanson204” that emerged victoriously after a fiercely-fought final table.

The large field and bounty element meant nobody at the final table walked away with less than $182, and the final two finishers padded their PartyPoker Ontario bankrolls with four-figure payments.

“gweeb32” ($231), “K__2” ($182), and “Spank Dangler” ($292) were the first three players heading to the showers. “Sucra71,” fresh from their ninth-place finish in the $265 buy-in PKO Main Event fell in sixth here ($341).

Then came the eliminations of “I_4bet_Jam” ($312), “aurum” ($395), and PartyPoker Ontario regular “Joe Stapleton” ($694), which left Jeanson204 heads-up against “MrCrumbs.”

Jeanson204 got the job done and their hands on $1,972 plus the title of champion, while MrCrumbs headed into the night with $1,197 cash in their account.
