We have some fantastic news for poker players who love frequenting excellently-structured tournaments that have juicy prize pools. What is that news? The Ontario Poker Championships are back. Not only that, but they are bigger and better than ever before with more than $600,000 in combined guarantees!
The Ontario Poker Championships are exclusive to online poker players residing in Ontario. Multiple tournaments run every day from January 8 through January 23, with buy-ins starting at only $1.10 and increasing all the way up to $530. There is an Ontario Poker Championships tournament for every PartyPoker Ontario player.
Fire up the PartyPoker Ontario software, head to the Tourneys tab, and you will see the vast schedule of Ontario Poker Championships events. There are 105 numbered events, most with Low, Medium, and High versions, making this the biggest online poker festival we have run in Ontario.
Three Massive PKO Main Events
Every Ontario Poker Championships tournament deserves your attention. However, a trio of the tournaments stand out from the crowd: the Main Events. The Ontario Poker Championships PKO Main Events come with buy-ins of $3.30, $33, and $109, with their guarantees tipping the scales at $2,000, $20,000, and $50,000, respectively.
Each Main Event has the exact same blind structure, which gives low-stakes players the same amazing experience as high-stakes players enjoy. Everyone who buys into a Main Event, or wins their way into one from as little as $0.01, receives a generous 100,000 starting stack, and plays to an eight-minute clock where the blinds start at 400/800/100a.
All three Main Events have several Phase 1s for you to get your teeth into. Late registration slams shut at the end of the 14th level and you can purchase one re-entry should you dust off your stack before late registration closes. Each Phase 1 ends when only 15% of the field remains, with that top 15% progressing to Day 2 with a min-cash in tow. You can play in as many Phase 1s as you wish, but only your largest stack goes through with you should you progress more than once.
You don’t have long to wait for the first Main Event Phase 1s because they shuffle up and deal at 17:05 ET on January 8. Day 2s are scheduled for 19:05 ET on January 24.
Our Biggest Ever $55 Event
Ontario poker players do not have to spend a lot to win big at PartyPoker. We are breaking two records early in the Ontario Poker Championships, and you are the beneficiaries.
On January 8, from 18:05 ET, The Opener kicks off. Like the other Ontario Poker Championships events, The Opener has three tiers of buy-in levels, with the $55 buy-in version guaranteeing a massive $10,000, making it our biggest $55 buy-in tournament to date. Your incredible support has made this possible.
Low-stakes players can also get in on the action with our biggest $5.50 event on the same day. The $5.50 Opener comes with a guaranteed prize pool worth $1,000. Taking down either will give you plenty of ammunition for the rest of the series.
Take on The Twins and Give Your Winnings a Boost
The Ontario Poker Championships sees a new tournament format make its eagerly-anticipated debut. On January 12 at 20:05 ET, Event #26-M and #26-L shuffle up and deal. #26-M is two $22 buy-in $1,500 guaranteed Twins A and Twins B, with #26-L being $2.20 buy-in $150 guaranteed Twins A and Twins B.
Buy into both The Twins of the same buy-in level and play them like you would any other tournament. However, reach the final table of both to win an extra cash prize. Win both and a huge payment heads your way!
Reach the final table of both $2.20 The Twins and bank P$25; win both for an extra P$500! Do the same at the $22 buy-in edition to win P$200 for a double final table appearance and a cool P$5,000 for a double victory!
Put Your Poker Skills to the Ultimate Test
Of course, the PKO Main Events and the huge Opener tournaments are major highlights of the upcoming Ontario Poker Championships, but the entire schedule is designed to put your poker skills to the ultimate test.
There are several No-Limit Hold’em formats on the schedule, include six-max, seven-max, Progressive Knockouts, Deepstacks, Turbos, and Hyper-Turbos, in addition to several Pot-Limit Omaha events.
