The Ontario Poker Championships came to a thrilling conclusion this week with the crowning of the Main Event champions. The $109 High, $33 Medium, and $3.30 Low Main Events were a fitting ending to what was an incredible poker series for Ontarians; we cannot wait for the next series to hit the site.
The $109 buy-in $50,000 guaranteed Ontario Poker Championships High Main Event drew in 503 players, resulting in a $50,300 prize pool. As this was a progressive knockout tournament, half of the pot went into the main prize pool, with the remaining 50% going on the heads of each entrant.
Seventy-five players returned to the PartyPoker Ontario tables for Day 2, and it was the aptly-named “BoomBoomKaching” that was the last player standing once the curtain came down on the Main Event action. After padding their bankroll with $7,297, it is likely the champion screamed out their alias in joy!
All but one of the nine finalists saw their $109 investment turn into a four-figure haul. “Sam Greenwood” finished in ninth for $984, narrowly missing out on a $1,000+ score. Following Sam Greenwood to the rail were “TDG13” ($1,058), “Pavlik_1” ($1,060), “Farmer Ray” ($1,367, and “HonkonVilbo” ($1,553).
Any of the final four players would have made a worth champion, but tournament poker dictates only one person can lay claim to that title. “easysympathy” bowed out in fourth for $2,267 before heads-up was set with the elimination of “aurum” in third, a finish worth $3,616. Aurum would later navigate their way to the final table of the Low Main Event.
Heads-up saw BoomBoomKaching fight it out with “Leaf4Yoshi.” Both locked in almost $3,600 from the main prize pool, leaving the ample final bounties to play for. The one-on-one battle went BoomBoomKaching’s way, and they walked away with a combined prize worth $7,297, leaving Leaf4Yoshi to bank $5,218.

CatLover108 Purrs as They Reel in the Medium Main Event’s Top Honors
The $33 buy-in $20,000 guaranteed Ontario Poker Championships Medium Main Event drew in a 658-strong crowed to the PartyPoker Ontario virtual felt, and it was “CatLover108” that left them all in their wake. Victory in this tournament came not only with bragging rights, but an impressive $3,108 payday.
The final table was the home to some familiar alias, namely “Pavlik_1” who followed up their seventh-place finish in the High Main Event with the same result in the Medium Main Event. The latter result came with $402 in prize money.
“Farmer Ray” was also present and correct. They finished sixth in the $109 Main Event for $1,367 and added another $1,897 to that score by finishing in second place in the $33 Main Event. An incredible set of results from both players, but the night belonged to CatLover108, who will forever be remembered for becoming a PartyPoker champion.

Hinokami Sees $3.30 Buy-in Swell 100-Times Over!
“Hinokami” is on cloud nine after taking down the $3.30 buy-in Ontario Poker Championships Low Main Event. The tournament may have only cost $3.30 to enter but first place came with a total prize tipping the scales at $365, more than 100-times the initial buy-in!
The top three finishers received more than $140 each. Third-place finisher “HairMetal” headed into the night with $148, while runner-up “macineisback” captured a $220 payout after falling at the final hurdle.
